National Honor Society The National Honor Society is a premier U.S. organization established in 1921 that recognizes high school students who achieve high grades and demonstrate excellence in service, leadership, and character.  Operating in thousands of schools, it helps members build professional skills, give back to communities, and access exclusive college scholarships.  

Club Membership Requirements:  

1.  ONLY 11th and 12 grade students can apply at HCCHS.

2.  Application MUST be picked up from Mrs. Fox in room 2063. Applications will be available after the fall

      break.

3.  Application MUST be turned into Mrs. Fox according to the deadline on the application.  NO LATE

      APPLICATIONS will be accepted.

4.  Applicants are selected based on four qualities:  Scholarship- Maintaining a high (GPA) set by the local

      school chapter, Leadership- Taking charge and guiding others at school or in the community, Service-

      Volunteering and helping others without getting paid, and Character- Showing reliability, honesty,

      cooperation, respect, and a clean disciplinary record.  

5.  There will be a special National Honor Society Induction Ceremony the Tuesday before Thanksgiving

      where all applicants that have been selected will be introduced and take part in the induction ceremony.

      This will take place in front of invited parents, guests, and students.  

6.  The application process only takes place once a school year.

7.  Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher in order to apply. 

Dues:  $25, due on or after the Induction Ceremony

Purpose:  The purpose of the National Honor Society is to recognize high school students who show excellence in four main areas:  scholarship, service, leadership, and character.  It helps students grow as leaders and give back to their local communities.  

Activities:  Volunteering for local charity drives, clean-ups, volunteer work, helping collect items for local charities and organizations, helping with school events, and any other projects that would benefit the local communities and schools.
